Wound
care
Wound
care is a prevalent need in the Coastal Bend Region. With the high
incidence of diabetes, skilled wound care is a must to help clients
heal and learn how to take care of themselves and their skin to
prevent further problems. At CHRISTUS Spohn Rehabilitation Services, we continue to work toward excellence in wound care
and are proud to offer:
-
High standards for wound care.
-
An excellent working rapport with medical doctors that allows
us to be proactive in meeting the immediate needs of our clients
and provide quality patient care.
-
Advanced wound care modalities, such as compression, wound vac
and pulsatile lavage.
-
Ongoing education of therapists with vendors and other wound care
resources to ensure that advanced wound care products are being
introduced.
-
Continuing education opportunities within CHRISTUS Spohn Rehabilitation Services to further wound care knowledge.
We
provide wound care at all our facilities, with our highest volume
of wounds treated at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi—Memorial.
Being
the regional trauma facility and the former county hospital, Memorial
has many unique qualities that make it a top wound care facility:
- Memorial
is the only wound care department in the CHRISTUS Spohn Health
System under the leadership of an in-house certified wound specialist.
- Our
wound care department assists the Diabetes Education Center by
providing foot screenings for people with diabetes.
-
Our therapists gain unique experience by treating a variety of
wound types in our trauma and burn populations.
- We
address cosmetic issues using burn garments and scar reduction
education and techniques.
-
We have an excellent working rapport with our trauma, orthopedic
and plastic surgeons and other staff physicians.
