With age, our bodies change. The geriatric orthopedics team at CHRISTUS Spohn Rehabilitation Services understands these changes.
We can help you recover from surgery or injury, or help you function
better despite disease or disability.
At
CHRISTUS Spohn, you'll receive personalized care from a licensed
professional at every visit. Whether you're recovering from knee
or hip surgery or fighting the effects of arthritis or osteoporosis,
our therapists can help you reclaim and maintain as much strength,
mobility and independence as possible. We can also teach you ways
to help prevent future injuries.
Some
of the more common conditions we treat include:
- Knee
problems, such as recovering from total knee replacement surgery
or managing osteoarthritis.
- Spine
problems, such as low-back and neck pain from osteoporosis, degenerative
disk disease or poor posture.
- Shoulder
problems, such as frozen shoulder or shoulder impingement.
- Hip
problems, such as recovering from total hip replacement or arthritis
pain.
Therapies
for these conditions may include:
- Cold
packs and/or moist heat.
-
Electrical stimulation, which uses low-level electrical currents
to help improve strength, range of motion and muscle control.
-
Ultrasound, the use of sound waves to decrease swelling and increase
circulation.
-
Iontophoresis, using ultrasound waves to deliver medication directly
to the injury site.
-
Massage and other hands-on therapy to loosen muscles, restore
range of motion and decrease pain.
- Therapeutic
exercises to improve flexibility, strength and balance.
- Education
on posture and movement to help reduce the risk of further injury.
